Should Average Americans Be Preparing For A New American Revolution?

Since the 1970’s the American government has been consolidating its power and making preparations to prevent the American people from rising up to stop them. Since 1989 FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) has been given expanding powers including the power to suspend the Constitution in an emergency. As the lead agency in any type of national emergency this would give FEMA the power to round up and hold any dissidents indefinitely whether they were citizens or not without trial or due process of any kind. How can a government of the people, by the people, and for the people permit such a condition to exist? Should we be ready to fight back if the government decides to exercise its control over the people?

Beyond the powers granted to FEMA there has been a consolidation of industry and finance that has tightened the control an increasingly small number of Americans have over the majority of the population. Through deregulation banks and investment firms have been allowed to merge and acquire one another to the point where less than 5% of the population control over 95% of all the assets held in the United States. Whether through holding liens or through direct ownership the financial industry has some control over the assets of almost every American. In a money-based society this situation leaves most Americans virtually powerless to control their own lives. Liberty in America has basically become an illusion. While our leaders preach the gospel of freedom and liberty and sacrifice, they actively work to rob us of both freedom and liberty while forcing us to sacrifice the most for the opulence of the elite.

Of course the mainstream media, controlled by moneyed interests, will say that questioning the motivations of the rich and powerful is the ranting of “fringe extremists” because if people took it seriously and began to do something about it they would lose power. Americans should be getting very wary of their leaders. As was the case in the late eighteenth century the leaders running our country have lost touch with the people and are self-serving gluttons with no real regard for the people whose work supports their lifestyles. In the American Revolution average people came together to throw off the oppression of the British crown. Today our oppression comes from the banks and politicians who tax us heavily to support their interests over ours.

While some would stir the pot merely to distract such as Glenn Beck with his “Tea Parties” they are not serving the people at large. The people at large need to start to ask much more core questions than whether or not the “public option” should be included in healthcare reform. We need to ask why banks have been allowed to purposely manipulate people’s credit ratings so they can charge higher interest rates and force them into defaults allowing the bank to go after their assets all while taking taxpayer funded bailouts and paying their executives large bonuses. We need to be asking why there are relocation camps in America with no apparent purpose for them. We need to be asking why only two political parties have been allowed to dominate the debate by blocking other parties from even being heard for so long. We need to be concerned that the government can spy on citizens for pretty much any reason at any time.

For decades militias have been painted as being extremists and nuts but when you stop and think about it our nation was founded by militias that fought back against an oppressive government. While some argue that the current government is not oppressive there is considerable evidence to the contrary. There are different kinds of oppression and we need to recognize that it may be soon time to throw off the yoke of the current model of oppression from our society.

When people are forced to pay thirty percent interest on loans that were originally taken at fifteen percent or less that is a form of oppression. When government has the power to take money in the form of taxes from the working class and give it to the wealthy elite that is a form of oppression. When corporations are able to consolidate their power by merging and buying other companies to the point where people no longer have a choice in where they obtain certain goods or services that is a form of oppression. When government under the USA PATRIOT Act can read our mail, listen to our phone conversations, freeze our bank accounts and take us into custody for mere suspicion of subversive (defined as terrorist) activities it is a form of oppression. When the vast majority of informational outlets are controlled by a small number of individuals that is a form of oppression. We are being oppressed in ways we are not even consciously aware of. The oppressors control what we hear and what we see and even who we have to choose from in every election.

We are being controlled by the powerful elite who are only interested in their own gains. The issues they present to us as being the issues of the day are only a fraction of the things we should be talking about. We have lost many of the freedoms that our ancestors fought and died for and are losing more and more each day. The government and industry knows everything about us and use that knowledge to control us. We are being kept in debt so that we must focus on earning money to keep our heads above water. We are being inundated with information about scandals and trivia to keep our attention diverted from the actions of our leaders and the people who control them. It is coming time for a change.

Thomas Jefferson once said; “I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." This is happening in America today and the people in Washington are letting it happen. The banks control who gets money and how much they pay for its usage. There are virtually no limits on how much a bank can charge for the use of money once it has been lent. Usury has become commonplace despite its supposed illegality. Our leaders have long betrayed the trust of the American people on both sides of the political aisle and things must soon change if the people of this nation are to have the freedoms on which this nation was founded.

Thomas Jefferson also said; "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." To maintain freedom sometimes revolution is necessary. Today's tyrants are no longer dictatorial leaders from across the ocean but rather corporate executives who pull the strings of our elected leaders. There may come a time soon when the new American patriot needs to be prepared to take by force that which has been stolen by deceptive practices from the American people.

The so-called militia “extremists” may not all be wrong. Revolution may be very soon in our future as it seems it might be the only way to rebalance the scales of power in America. The gap between those who work and those who profit has grown to the point where people are no longer able to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Americans live in a constant state of fear. Fear of job loss, fear of attack, fear for the future of our children, etc. rule the current thoughts of the majority of Americans. It is time for change and if the politicians elected to represent the people can no longer be counted on to look out for our interests we must look out for our own. Those who have power and wealth will not willingly part with any of it regardless of how the means of maintaining their power affect the people at large. It falls then to the new American revolutionary to take action for the good of all.
