David Vs Goliath - Taking Down The Corrupt Bankers

The time has come in America when we need to realize that the people of America are the only ones who can bring real change to the way things are. Our government officials are in the pockets of the wealthy and the little guy continually pays for their opulence with our blood, sweat and tears. There is something we can do about at least one part of the problem. We can fight back with where we put our hard-earned money.

In 2008 the federal government gave nearly a trillion dollars to banks to save them from collapse because they got careless with our money. The idea was supposedly that the banks would in turn help struggling Americans with loans and credit to get them through the tough economic times. What happened was that the bank executives got big fat bonuses and the people lost their homes and businesses because the banks stopped lending and tightened the restrictions on consumer credit. The bankers are completely unapologetic and expect us to just take it without response. We need to respond and do so on a massive scale.

We the people of this nation need to pull our money out of the big corporate banks that have become oblivious to our needs and move it to local banks run by our neighbors. Now this is not to say we should hide our money in mattresses. There is value in the banking system. We just need to cut the billionaires off at the knees and do business with the people that live in our communities. We also need to pay off our credit cards with the big banks and cut them up. Stop filling their pockets with your money in the form of outrageous interest rates and insane fees. Find a local credit union that will give you a better rate and tell the big banks what they can go do with themselves.

The only way we will ever gain our freedom from the power elite is to start playing the game the way they do. We need to hit them where it hurts and not be afraid to see any of them collapse. If Chase, B of A, Wells Fargo and Citi all collapse in favor of local banks so be it. Donít worry about the workers for these companies losing their jobs either. The thing is, as the local banks gain customers, they will need to hire people to service the accounts. They are also much less likely to outsource the labor and much more likely to hire local. Taking out the corporate banking trash would actually be good for jobs creation in America.

Iím taking my money out of a big bank after more than twenty years with them and putting it into a small local bank. Iíll still have a debit card and ATM access as well as the peace of mind knowing that Iím contributing to my local economy and helping to keep my neighbors employed. If more people do like Iím doing, my local bank will grow and open more offices where the big corporate banks once were. The money will shift from greedy corporate fat cats far removed from the realities of my local economy to local businesses that employ the customers of the business I work for thus stabilizing my local economy. If we stabilize the local economies the national economy will begin to stabilize. If the billionaires go broke because I convinced a bunch of people to move their money from big banks to small, I frankly donít care. They donít care about us. Weíre just dollar signs and account numbers to them. Why should we care if they go broke?

Do whatís right and whatís best for your community. Tell the big banks to take a hike and move your money to local banks and credit unions not affiliated with the big banks. Get rid of the credit cards from the big banks and find local issuers that will treat you better. Since Washington is incapable of reining in the banks we need to do it ourselves. This is how to do it. Put simply we take our money back from the big banks and use it to help our local communities. We stop employing foreign call center workers with our bank fees and start putting Americans back to work taking care of our money. If you care about the future financial health of your community take a stand now. Shop local, bank local and we can create our own economic recovery.

Have You Been Downsized Due to Outsourcing?

For several years now we have listened to some within the business community tell us that America can't compete on a global scale unless they send our jobs overseas where they can be done cheaper. The question becomes, if we don't have good paying jobs here, how can we sustain our own economy? We want to hear from you. Have you lost your job? Have you been forced into a lower wage job due to outsourcing? Has outsourcing been a success for you? Did you end up in a better job?

Tell us your story so we can make sure the politicians see how outsourcing really impacts the workers who are backbone of America. Send your story to stories@reform-america.net
