Is It Time To Throw All The Bums Out Of Washington?
Recently, three military jets worth of congressional favorites were sent on an all-expense-paid trip to Copenhagen, Denmark for the climate conference. Headed by Nancy Pelosi this delegation included friends and families all on the taxpayers’ dime. While Americans struggle to pay our bills and worry constantly about losing our jobs Pelosi and her favored few are living the high life on our money. How can we as a nation let this stand? The members of both major parties spend our money with no regard for economy and ask us to tighten our belts. Perhaps it’s time for a third party to take over the reins and push the fat cats out of Washington.
Between the Bush and Obama administrations, trillions of American tax dollars have been wasted to maintain the overall status quo for the rich and powerful while the American workers suffer more and more. Those at the top have not felt any of the pain from the poor decisions they have made. The time has come to ignore the political TV ads and vote based on shaking things up in Washington and in our state capitols. It’s time to vote third party. The Democrats and Republicans have both shown themselves to be elitists who care only about their donors. They do not write legislation that empowers average people instead they write legislation that makes it easier for corporations to squeeze the life out of working people. CEO’s get millions in bonuses while they lay off thousands of workers and Washington does nothing. It’s time for change to come in a dramatic way.
We the people need to stop responding to the major party calls for donations and start supporting candidates who actually support our needs. Washington has been giving little more than lip service to the actual needs of the American people. Still the rich get richer while the middle class is rapidly becoming poor. After we have done all the work to make the rich and powerful rich and powerful we have gotten the royal shaft. It’s time to tell Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell that we’re not buying what either of them is selling anymore. We need to tell the DNC and the GOP that we’ve had enough of all of them. It’s time for real “Change we can believe in”. Obama has proven to be a politician at his core and we all know where the Republicans got us with eight years in the White House. They’ve had their shot and failed to get the job done for the American people. We need new blood in there.
In 2010 I am vowing to not vote for a single major party candidate in any election and am encouraging everyone who reads this to do the same and encourage everyone that you know to also boycott the two major parties. Take a stand and make a difference. If enough of us stand up and say no to politics as usual we can take our nation back from the special interests. We need to vote for candidates who will pledge to outlaw “soft money” and ban revolving door lobbying by former politicians. It’s time to ignore the rhetoric and focus on the results. When someone can’t get the job done you fire them. The people in Washington on both sides of the aisle have failed to produce results and therefore need to be shown the door. We need a new group of leaders in Washington without ties to fat cat donors. We need to vote based on policy not political ads. It’s time to throw the bums out!
