Should There Be A Citizenship Verification Provision In The Healthcare Reform Bill?: Left of Center View

Yes. This issue is really simple. It's crazy that welfare recipients receive better healthcare coverage than working citizens. We need to make it plausible for people to move from the public doles to self sufficiency without losing benefits. Returning to work should be a step forward.

For the betterment of our country healthcare should be made available to every American citizen. The rest of the industrialized world does this, it is a commonly accepted practice in the modern world and it is time we joined in.

If we allow the medical industry to remain as unregulated and unmanaged as the banking industry, we can expect the same results. Since we can't allow the healthcare system in the country to collapse, the government will likely be called upon to step in; meaning that once again taxpayers will be stuck with the bill and again not get anything for their troubles.

So why not try something different this time, how about giving the tax payers something for their troubles, healthcare. Sure it may end up creating a slight increase in taxes, but it can be easily off-set by the savings in what individuals must currently pay for healthcare. So the costs are manageable, if managed correctly.

Which brings us to the harsh reality of a system too new and fragile to overburden. Citizens are expected to foot the bill, so they should reap the benefits. Emergency medical care should be made available to all, but to offer complete medical coverage to the world would bankrupt the system before it even got started.

There are still numerous issues to work out before the program can begin, but this part of the issue is a no-brainer - we must first heal ourselves before we attempt to heal the world. Verifying that people are eligible to receive the benefits of being citizens before giving them said benefits is just common sense.

Should There Be A Citizenship Verification Provision In The Healthcare Reform Bill?: Right of Center View

Well, letís see here, the liberals are probably going to push through some kind of public healthcare system thatís going to cost you and me money. Should they at least include something to keep illegal aliens from getting taxpayer subsidized health benefits? Well, duh! Yeah, we need to keep America from becoming the preferred destination of every broke and sick Tom, Dick and Harry from here to Timbuktu.

If we are going to do any kind of government sponsored healthcare system we need to make sure that weíre limiting how much money we throw down the proverbial hole. In a perfect world we would be talking about fixing healthcare so it isnít so expensive and gives people incentives for getting healthy but since weíre looking down the barrel of liberal healthcare welfare we need to focus on limiting the costs.

In his speech a couple weeks back Obama said his plan would not cover illegal immigrants. Well, itís time to put your money where your mouth is and add a provision to the bill to make sure that when someone signs up for healthcare that they are here legally and qualified to receive the benefits. You keep saying Representative Wilson was wrong when he called the President a liar but nobody is making sure that Wilson was wrong by making the bill actively exclude illegal aliens.

The solution is simple. Pass a law that requires you have verifiable residency or citizenship documentation when you sign up for healthcare insurance, private or public. Add to that law a requirement that people must provide their social security number and ID when they fill out the paperwork in the ER and that the social security number is verified electronically against their identification. If their identity and residency status cannot be verified, have them held in the hospital until law enforcement or immigration can confirm their status. If they check out they go on their merry way. If not, I.C.E. is called, they go back to where they came from and are put to the bottom of the immigration waiting list.

A Legal Immigrantís Perspective

If you are not a Native American, you are an immigrant, so am I. I came legally to this country at the age of five with my parents who worked hard, paid taxes (even Jesus paid taxes), lived by the rules of this great nation and never took or accepted a penny from the government. We came seeking FREEDOM from a communist country. It was months before we were able to enter the US legally. I remember us getting medical exams, shots (small pox), background check, references, and going through numerous interviews once we arrived. I also remembered people coming to the US from all over the world who waited years since it was based on "Quotas". Read more...

Solving Our Immigration Problem

The major problem our country is facing with illegal immigrants today is because of the exploitation of these immigrants. We believe the solution to this problem is two-fold. First, we should allow more immigrants in this country to cut down on the number of illegal ones. Second, all immigrants should be educated about their rights at the expense of the government. Below, you will find an in-depth look at our suggested reforms.

Reforms for immigration limitations:

-New immigrants can't equal more than 1% of the US population in a given year (the population being from the last recorded census). That 1% will be further divided up to allow only a certain number of immigrants each month.
-Each country of origin for immigrants will be allowed a certain percentage of that 1%. No country could receive more than 10% of the total amount and no country can receive less than .1% of it. The left over percentage will be divided up between all countries as follows: Read more...

Do Elements Within the La Raza Movement Pose a Threat to America?

La Raza means literally ďThe RaceĒ in Spanish. The movement was formed in 1968 to promote the interests of the Mexican-American community. Like the NAACP and other affirmative-action minded organizations, La Raza has many members that are interested in being part of America and promoting equality for all Americans. The fundamental goals as stated by the movement are benign and represent the ideals of American diversity and cultural pride.

There is another movement affiliated with La Raza that has historically been more militant and still maintains documents within their organization that point to isolationistic views Read More

A Plan

The one major thing that seems to be lacking in the immigration debate is a real plan that addresses the legitimate concerns with illegal immigration. There are strong opinions on both sides and a lot of rhetoric but there isnít really any solid plan being promoted to address the illegal immigration issue in a way that is both fair and logical.

So, that being said here is my idea:Read More

Trucking Cross Borders

This is mainly a concern for the trucking business. If we allow these people to come into our country, bringing cargo that we in America have, and can supply, then we are saying that the American working people are not needed, and have lost all say to legally enforced DOT (Department of Transportation) laws.Read More
