Which of the Presidential Candidates Will Bring the Best Immigration Policy Into Office?: Left of Center View

Barack Obama has shown a visionary idealism that is exactly what America and the world needs. His path to citizenship for undocumented workers and their families is firm but compassionate. He has made it clear that we must secure our borders but we must also have fair and equitable immigration policies in place if we are to move our nation forward in this new millennium.

For many years liberal politicians have taken for granted the Latino vote but not Barack Obama. He has opened a dialogue with the community in order to find real solutions to the immigration issues facing immigrants and citizens alike. For those who have gone through the legal process it can be agonizing to see their relatives not able to come here to be with them because of red tape and bureaucracy that doesn’t need to be in place. The pain of separation is unbearable to many. Barack Obama proposes making the legal process more effective so that more legal and less illegal immigration can take place.

Barack Obama also believes in securing our borders and enforcing the laws in place. His path to citizenship for undocumented workers includes penalties for illegal immigration but also recognizes the contributions of undocumented workers and allows people who have worked hard and been good residents of their communities to not be painted with the same brush as criminals who only looked out for their own interests at the expense of others. It allows for good people making a difficult choice to protect their families.

With his willingness to consider the ideas of others in making decisions that impact us all Barack Obama is the clear choice for America’s next President. Where other politicians bring strife he brings solutions and where other politicians prey on your despair Barack Obama brings hope. We have had enough of the politics of destruction and empty promises of the past. Barack Obama has a vision for America that can bring hope to millions who have almost none. We have to decide if we want to be guided by hatred and fear or choose a new path of hope and possibilities. Barack Obama offers us an opportunity to embrace the diversity of America.

We are a nation of immigrants. Immigrants built our nation’s railroads and opened up our country to commerce. Immigrants are our fathers and mothers and grandfathers and grandmothers. Immigrants are America.

There are clear choices for America to make this November. We can choose to follow John McCain down the path of another four years of Bush White House policies or we can say in one unfaltering voice that we want change. In every generation there comes a time for great change. The time is now. Our time has come to either embrace an historic moment or watch our time to make a difference slip away.

Which of the Presidential Candidates Will Bring the Best Immigration Policy Into Office?: Right of Center View

I have to start by saying the obvious. Neither of the two major party candidates will do anything resembling reasonable when it comes to immigration. They have both made it clear that they are pandering to the illegal immigration supporters and if either of them get into office it will be business as usual in Washington D.C. The only hope for real illegal immigration crackdowns is to elect a third party president.

The Libertarian Party has decided to nominate Bob Barr to represent them in the upcoming presidential election. Libertarians believe in preserving our personal freedoms and using government only for what government was designed to do. Government was designed to provide for national defense and care for the overall national interests of Americans as a whole. It was not designed to be a get rich quick scheme for fat cats or an easy out for the inept. A Libertarian in the White House would begin to set right the misguided government and return the power to the American people.

Bob Barr has proposed finding ways to cut off services from illegal immigrants and modifying birthright citizenship to only apply to those born to at least one citizen of the United States. If there were no free healthcare and free education and if being born on our side of the border no longer meant guaranteed citizenship many fewer illegal immigrants would come. It may sound harsh to some but there are private charities that can support these people if you choose to support them but we should not be forced to foot the bill for illegal immigrants. When the government supports illegal immigrants with services funded by our tax dollars they are taking my tax dollars and making my child get fewer services and a poorer education because some illegal alien who doesn’t pay taxes came over here and stuck their kid into the classroom.

The Libertarians won’t let that stand. They think we deserve better. They think government is supposed to work for the citizens of the United States not the unwelcome guests. They believe ballots should be in English as should all government forms. They believe in taking care of business at home before we go off and put our kids in harms way. They also believe in finishing what you start and not leaving it behind to come back and bite you later. So if we want to secure our nation, end our wars abroad in success bringing our sons and daughters home and get government out of our pockets we need to look in a new direction. We need to elect Bob Barr the next President of the United States of America. Under his leadership we will kick the special interests and illegal immigration lobbyists out of Washington and take back America for Americans.

A Legal Immigrant’s Perspective

If you are not a Native American, you are an immigrant, so am I. I came legally to this country at the age of five with my parents who worked hard, paid taxes (even Jesus paid taxes), lived by the rules of this great nation and never took or accepted a penny from the government. We came seeking FREEDOM from a communist country. It was months before we were able to enter the US legally. I remember us getting medical exams, shots (small pox), background check, references, and going through numerous interviews once we arrived. I also remembered people coming to the US from all over the world who waited years since it was based on "Quotas". Read more...

Solving Our Immigration Problem

The major problem our country is facing with illegal immigrants today is because of the exploitation of these immigrants. We believe the solution to this problem is two-fold. First, we should allow more immigrants in this country to cut down on the number of illegal ones. Second, all immigrants should be educated about their rights at the expense of the government. Below, you will find an in-depth look at our suggested reforms.

Reforms for immigration limitations:

-New immigrants can't equal more than 1% of the US population in a given year (the population being from the last recorded census). That 1% will be further divided up to allow only a certain number of immigrants each month.
-Each country of origin for immigrants will be allowed a certain percentage of that 1%. No country could receive more than 10% of the total amount and no country can receive less than .1% of it. The left over percentage will be divided up between all countries as follows: Read more...

Do Elements Within the La Raza Movement Pose a Threat to America?

La Raza means literally “The Race” in Spanish. The movement was formed in 1968 to promote the interests of the Mexican-American community. Like the NAACP and other affirmative-action minded organizations, La Raza has many members that are interested in being part of America and promoting equality for all Americans. The fundamental goals as stated by the movement are benign and represent the ideals of American diversity and cultural pride.

There is another movement affiliated with La Raza that has historically been more militant and still maintains documents within their organization that point to isolationistic views Read More

A Plan

The one major thing that seems to be lacking in the immigration debate is a real plan that addresses the legitimate concerns with illegal immigration. There are strong opinions on both sides and a lot of rhetoric but there isn’t really any solid plan being promoted to address the illegal immigration issue in a way that is both fair and logical.

So, that being said here is my idea:Read More

Trucking Cross Borders

This is mainly a concern for the trucking business. If we allow these people to come into our country, bringing cargo that we in America have, and can supply, then we are saying that the American working people are not needed, and have lost all say to legally enforced DOT (Department of Transportation) laws.Read More
