Will The Obama Sponsored Medical Plan Bankrupt America?: Left of Center View

It’s a fair question. After all, medical bills are one of the leading reasons most Americans have to declare bankruptcy. We’re not just talking people currently without health insurance, as anyone who’s had a serious injury or illness can attest the difference between what your insurance will pay and what the hospital bills can be staggering. So yes, a national healthcare plan is a risky endeavor, but the real question is can we afford not to do it?

As comedian Chris Rock pointed out in a recent interview, "Were all fighting about it now, but 30 years from now how are you going to justify being AGAINST healthcare to your Grandchildren." He has a point. How do we justify spending billions and probably trillions of dollars to kill strangers and then question spending the same amount or less on the health of our own children, of ourselves? Take back the bailout money we gave to the nations failed institutions the executives of which used most of it to pay themselves anyway. Huge national crisis, executives might only receive seven figure bonuses this quarter, but we pause at the possibility of helping the janitor pay his doctor bill. Really?

As for the opposition to federally funded medicine there is but one response; Medicare. You want to piss off senior citizens in this country threaten to cut Medicare benefits. Seniors vote. Medicare cuts are not discussed by politicians. We have Federal sponsored medical care, and it is not perfect, but it is essential. Why not offer this same level of protection to all American citizens? Expanding the system may even improve it.

In a nuclear attack it is estimated that the flight time of incoming enemy missiles is 12 to 30 minutes. So we can end the world in 30 minutes. Have you ever been able to get into see your doctor in less than 30 minutes? Essentially it is faster and easier to end the world as we know it than it is to get in to see a doctor. Who says the current healthcare system isn’t broken?

Will The Obama Sponsored Medical Plan Bankrupt America?: Right of Center View

The Democrats seem intent on bankrupting America. The Obama healthcare plan seems to be to spend trillions of dollars now and hope that it will somehow magically return to the nation’s coffers in the future. With all of the debate over who pays for the healthcare plan nobody seemed too concerned with making healthcare more affordable so that nobody would have to pay too much for healthcare. Well, nobody but the Republicans that were essentially shut out of the debate entirely.

During the 2008 campaign John McCain questioned the Obama approach because of a lack of cost control and nobody in Congress listened. In 2009 pretty much every Republican in the nation and most Independents supported reforming the healthcare industry but questioned the Democrats’ plan because it did not substantively address controlling costs. Still the Democrats pushed ahead without trying to work with others to come up with a sensible plan to get more people access to healthcare while controlling costs for the good of all.

It’s 2010 and the Democrats got their plan pushed, or rather steamrolled, through Congress and there is nothing in it to address the core issues of cost. Sure more people will get insurance, but who will pay the cost in the end? The sad truth is that our children will pay the costs. Because Obama and the Democrats didn’t take the time to work on getting costs under control the entire nation will pay far more than necessary to realize Obama’s healthcare reform vision.

With America already trillions of dollars in debt to foreign creditors such as China and facing enormous trade deficits with our international trading partners due to treaties like NAFTA we can ill afford to have more things draining our national resources. The Obama healthcare plan will bring economic disaster to America. Between the new healthcare plan and the so called reform of Wall Street in the works in Washington, we’ll be lucky if America doesn’t become a wholly owned subsidiary of a Chinese bank by the end of the decade.

A Legal Immigrant’s Perspective

If you are not a Native American, you are an immigrant, so am I. I came legally to this country at the age of five with my parents who worked hard, paid taxes (even Jesus paid taxes), lived by the rules of this great nation and never took or accepted a penny from the government. We came seeking FREEDOM from a communist country. It was months before we were able to enter the US legally. I remember us getting medical exams, shots (small pox), background check, references, and going through numerous interviews once we arrived. I also remembered people coming to the US from all over the world who waited years since it was based on "Quotas". Read more...

Solving Our Immigration Problem

The major problem our country is facing with illegal immigrants today is because of the exploitation of these immigrants. We believe the solution to this problem is two-fold. First, we should allow more immigrants in this country to cut down on the number of illegal ones. Second, all immigrants should be educated about their rights at the expense of the government. Below, you will find an in-depth look at our suggested reforms.

Reforms for immigration limitations:

-New immigrants can't equal more than 1% of the US population in a given year (the population being from the last recorded census). That 1% will be further divided up to allow only a certain number of immigrants each month.
-Each country of origin for immigrants will be allowed a certain percentage of that 1%. No country could receive more than 10% of the total amount and no country can receive less than .1% of it. The left over percentage will be divided up between all countries as follows: Read more...

Do Elements Within the La Raza Movement Pose a Threat to America?

La Raza means literally “The Race” in Spanish. The movement was formed in 1968 to promote the interests of the Mexican-American community. Like the NAACP and other affirmative-action minded organizations, La Raza has many members that are interested in being part of America and promoting equality for all Americans. The fundamental goals as stated by the movement are benign and represent the ideals of American diversity and cultural pride.

There is another movement affiliated with La Raza that has historically been more militant and still maintains documents within their organization that point to isolationistic views Read More

A Plan

The one major thing that seems to be lacking in the immigration debate is a real plan that addresses the legitimate concerns with illegal immigration. There are strong opinions on both sides and a lot of rhetoric but there isn’t really any solid plan being promoted to address the illegal immigration issue in a way that is both fair and logical.

So, that being said here is my idea:Read More

Trucking Cross Borders

This is mainly a concern for the trucking business. If we allow these people to come into our country, bringing cargo that we in America have, and can supply, then we are saying that the American working people are not needed, and have lost all say to legally enforced DOT (Department of Transportation) laws.Read More
