What Will the G-20 Summit Do For America?: Left of Center View

America has always been good at marketing. Sure we've let most of our other industries outsource the majority of our manufacturing and customer service positions overseas to the point that our talent pool is at best a little rusty, but we still know how to throw a party, just take a look at the AIG Execs, those guys don't mess around when it comes to spending other people's money.

Now it is true that we didn't do a very good job of selling the Bush/Cheney vendetta against Iraq to the rest of the world, but at least they bothered to do a little more than the usual dictator credo - Because I want to. But not much more and this in turn is why most of the world is pissed off at us right now. The economic crisis, well that's not really helping, but at least other countries can see that it's crippling our own folks as well. It's kind of like telling an ex your mom is sick and trying to borrow money a week after you broke up because you slept with the best friend or roommate. Awkward! But at least we have Prince charming pleading our case instead of the clueless cowboy.

So what exactly can the G20 summit do for America? Well for starters it helps us rebuild the confidence and respect the rest of the world had for us before we traded it for oil. This conference certainly won't solve any problems overnight, but it does give us a chance to put our best foot forward. We get to show the rest of the world that the guy we put in charge will be out there, dare I say, leading us through this crisis. This is a huge change from the let's go mountain-bike when things get rough policy of the previous administration.

Image-wise America has a huge hole to dig itself out of. We are in dire financial straits, unemployment is swelling and our corporations aren't even bothering to hide their greed anymore. None of our wars are going very well and most of the world distrusts us. So anything positive is an improvement. We finally have a charismatic and reassuring leader in place. The first step in repairing our damaged relations with the world is to get them to start speaking with us again, and just by electing President Obama at least we got them talking about us. America is on the brink of change, and at least this time we have hope that it will be for the better.

What Will the G-20 Summit Do For America?: Right of Center View

Our new President has gone off to Europe to make nice with the rest of the world and make sure that people know Barack Obama is ready to lie down and give up on American leadership. In his meetings this last week with world leaders it was clear that Barack Obama is trying to appease the critics of America around the world with warm and fuzzy speeches and promises that the people of America will pay for in the end.

While at a town hall style meeting with French citizens our President talked about how Americans have failed to appreciate Europe’s leadership in the world. Somehow he seems to think that everything would just be ducky if Americans decided to adopt the European model. He seems to think that Europeans with their socialized medicine and insane tax rates are better off than people in America where the people get to decide for themselves how they spend their money. I guess that we would all be better off if the government told us which doctors to see, took all of our guns away and left us with less of our own money to spend. Maybe he thinks that we should adopt a one world government model where America bends to the will of the world on how we live our lives.

Liberal critics of the Bush administration and prior Republican administrations talked about some supposed new world order where America bullied the rest of the world into submission ending with America being the dominant power in the world. It seems that the new world order wanted by the liberal Democrats is one where America has policy dictated to them by Europe and the UN. Where we once could lead from a position of strength things like the G20, World Bank and UN dilute our leadership on the world stage and leave us struggling to survive in this new era of globalization. Some liberals within the halls of power seem all too ready to set aside the greatness of America to embrace the “leadership” of Europe. Socialism here we come...

What will the G20 do for America? It and all the other world-government leaning groups will weaken us. Where we once had a position of leading the world as a military and economic powerhouse demanding respect, we could end up being just one cog in some global political machine with no more say about laws that govern us than someone half a world away. Our independence and freedoms could become nothing more than memories as we bow to a world government in a truly frightening new world order.

A Legal Immigrant’s Perspective

If you are not a Native American, you are an immigrant, so am I. I came legally to this country at the age of five with my parents who worked hard, paid taxes (even Jesus paid taxes), lived by the rules of this great nation and never took or accepted a penny from the government. We came seeking FREEDOM from a communist country. It was months before we were able to enter the US legally. I remember us getting medical exams, shots (small pox), background check, references, and going through numerous interviews once we arrived. I also remembered people coming to the US from all over the world who waited years since it was based on "Quotas". Read more...

Solving Our Immigration Problem

The major problem our country is facing with illegal immigrants today is because of the exploitation of these immigrants. We believe the solution to this problem is two-fold. First, we should allow more immigrants in this country to cut down on the number of illegal ones. Second, all immigrants should be educated about their rights at the expense of the government. Below, you will find an in-depth look at our suggested reforms.

Reforms for immigration limitations:

-New immigrants can't equal more than 1% of the US population in a given year (the population being from the last recorded census). That 1% will be further divided up to allow only a certain number of immigrants each month.
-Each country of origin for immigrants will be allowed a certain percentage of that 1%. No country could receive more than 10% of the total amount and no country can receive less than .1% of it. The left over percentage will be divided up between all countries as follows: Read more...

Do Elements Within the La Raza Movement Pose a Threat to America?

La Raza means literally “The Race” in Spanish. The movement was formed in 1968 to promote the interests of the Mexican-American community. Like the NAACP and other affirmative-action minded organizations, La Raza has many members that are interested in being part of America and promoting equality for all Americans. The fundamental goals as stated by the movement are benign and represent the ideals of American diversity and cultural pride.

There is another movement affiliated with La Raza that has historically been more militant and still maintains documents within their organization that point to isolationistic views Read More

A Plan

The one major thing that seems to be lacking in the immigration debate is a real plan that addresses the legitimate concerns with illegal immigration. There are strong opinions on both sides and a lot of rhetoric but there isn’t really any solid plan being promoted to address the illegal immigration issue in a way that is both fair and logical.

So, that being said here is my idea:Read More

Trucking Cross Borders

This is mainly a concern for the trucking business. If we allow these people to come into our country, bringing cargo that we in America have, and can supply, then we are saying that the American working people are not needed, and have lost all say to legally enforced DOT (Department of Transportation) laws.Read More
