Census 2010 - Who Will Take Part?: Left of Center View

As to who will take part in the 2010 Census, thatís anybodyís guess. The real question is who should take part, and the answer to that is everyone that lives here.

Why should people want to take part in a census? The answer is simple Ė goods and services provided by Federal, State and Local governments are all based on census data. Why does it matter? O.K., say youíre planning a dinner party. You plan on inviting twelve people so you send out invitations and get eight responses, six yes and two no. You plan accordingly, making sure there is enough food and beverages for everyone in attendance. Most people over prepare a little so that there is plenty for everyone. You plan for six guests and four show up you have an abundance, plan for six and get seven everything still works, just a little tighter. Plan for six and twelve show up and the host is angry. Just imagine planning for six and getting one hundred. O.K. so now you know what itís like in government.

Granted to most of us the census seems like a silly undertaking but once you understand some of the things the data is used for the inconvenience becomes palatable. As for those who are in the country illegally, taking part in the census wonít get you deported. Census workers are not law enforcement officers.

If the government were abusing this information gathering tool there would be reason to protest and debate but as far as the public can see, they are not doing that. People are allowed to maintain their anonymity, just their presence is recorded. There really isnít that much to say on the subject, an accurate 2010 Census is to all our benefit and you have to both ignorant and paranoid to object to participating in the process.

Census 2010 - Who Will Take Part?: Right of Center View

If people were smart, every man, woman and child would take part in the 2010 census. Given that we live in a nation with far too many self-absorbed idiots there will likely be a lot of people who donít answer a few simple questions to let their government better serve them. Between the preachers telling immigrants to boycott the census to people just too lazy to fill out the forms it will be yet another failed government project.

The ones that kill me are the immigrants who somehow think they will be gaining power by boycotting the census. They have to be the dumbest bunch out there. Somehow they think that under-reporting the population in their area will give them more political power. Apparently they donít understand how the census works. The whole point of it is to allocate resources and representation in Washington based on how many people live in a given area. So by not reporting that they live in the area they are telling Washington to allocate more resources to other areas instead of their area because they donít need them. It also tells Washington that they donít need as much representation in Washington. I guess they think they gain power with less representation in Washington.

Aside from the jackasses that are talking boycott there are the morons that are simply too lazy to do something in their own interests. ďIím just too busy...Ē Give me a break! You have time to watch American Idol and call in fifty times to support your favorite idol but you canít take ten minutes to fill out a census form!?! Folks you need to fill out the forms. If you donít want to see more budget cuts to your local schools and emergency services because of reduced federal funds then you need to fill out the forms. Anyone who thinks it isnít important is an idiot, pure and simple.

A Legal Immigrantís Perspective

If you are not a Native American, you are an immigrant, so am I. I came legally to this country at the age of five with my parents who worked hard, paid taxes (even Jesus paid taxes), lived by the rules of this great nation and never took or accepted a penny from the government. We came seeking FREEDOM from a communist country. It was months before we were able to enter the US legally. I remember us getting medical exams, shots (small pox), background check, references, and going through numerous interviews once we arrived. I also remembered people coming to the US from all over the world who waited years since it was based on "Quotas". Read more...

Solving Our Immigration Problem

The major problem our country is facing with illegal immigrants today is because of the exploitation of these immigrants. We believe the solution to this problem is two-fold. First, we should allow more immigrants in this country to cut down on the number of illegal ones. Second, all immigrants should be educated about their rights at the expense of the government. Below, you will find an in-depth look at our suggested reforms.

Reforms for immigration limitations:

-New immigrants can't equal more than 1% of the US population in a given year (the population being from the last recorded census). That 1% will be further divided up to allow only a certain number of immigrants each month.
-Each country of origin for immigrants will be allowed a certain percentage of that 1%. No country could receive more than 10% of the total amount and no country can receive less than .1% of it. The left over percentage will be divided up between all countries as follows: Read more...

Do Elements Within the La Raza Movement Pose a Threat to America?

La Raza means literally ďThe RaceĒ in Spanish. The movement was formed in 1968 to promote the interests of the Mexican-American community. Like the NAACP and other affirmative-action minded organizations, La Raza has many members that are interested in being part of America and promoting equality for all Americans. The fundamental goals as stated by the movement are benign and represent the ideals of American diversity and cultural pride.

There is another movement affiliated with La Raza that has historically been more militant and still maintains documents within their organization that point to isolationistic views Read More

A Plan

The one major thing that seems to be lacking in the immigration debate is a real plan that addresses the legitimate concerns with illegal immigration. There are strong opinions on both sides and a lot of rhetoric but there isnít really any solid plan being promoted to address the illegal immigration issue in a way that is both fair and logical.

So, that being said here is my idea:Read More

Trucking Cross Borders

This is mainly a concern for the trucking business. If we allow these people to come into our country, bringing cargo that we in America have, and can supply, then we are saying that the American working people are not needed, and have lost all say to legally enforced DOT (Department of Transportation) laws.Read More
